Edge Profiles. What Are My Choices?

You’ve picked out your countertop material, but one of the finishing touches to your countertops is the Profile Edge. What is a profile edge, you might ask? A profile edge on a countertop is the part of the countertop that overhangs above your base cabinets or island.

Eased Edge (Straight Edge)

The first edge profile is the *Eased Edge (Straight Edge), this edge has a 90 degree edge that is slightly rounded. It’s the most common type of edge you’ll find in kitchens and bathrooms because of its clean, simple and modern look.

*This edge is what is included in all estimates. All other edge profiles can be priced out upon request.

Full Bullnose Edge

A Full Bullnose Edge has a round top and bottom edge giving the appearance of a narrower or thinner countertop.

Half Bullnose Edge

The Half Bullnose Edge has a soft rounded top edge with a straight bottom edge. This edge highlights the thickness of the countertops.

Ogee Edge

The Ogee Edge, the most ornate of the edge profiles, are typically chosen in a more traditional style kitchen. The edge has a concave arch that flows into a convex arch.

Bevel Edge

The Bevel Edge is marked by a sharp 45 degree angle. This cut displays a defined border giving an elegant finish. Bevel edges can be modified to a ¼ bevel cut or a more defined ½ bevel cut.

Mitered Edge

Lastly, a Mitered Edge is when two pieces of stone are cut at a 45 degree angle and put together with a seam. This edge gives the appearance of a thick countertop, appearing seamless.
