Wondering about what material should go where? When choosing the right countertop, considering the specific type of material you’re looking for is a great place to start. In this blog post, we will show specific projects that we have done and make recommendations on what material to use for countertops.

Kitchen

Kitchen projects are the staple of Roc City Granite. We’ve done countless kitchens and over the years, we’ve received plenty of feedback on different materials.

Both Natural Stone and Quartz are commonly used in kitchens! Quartz is typically more uniform in its appearance, while Natural Stone varies in color, veining, texture, and more. Natural stone holds a lot of intricate design, due to the process of extraction. Quartz is manmade and generally mimics the look of Natural Stone.

Natural stone is commonly used in high risk areas, due to its durability; however we do recommend resealing it yearly. Quartz needs little to no maintenance, but prolonged and extreme heat can cause damage. Both materials as you can see have their pros and cons.

Remnants are pieces of leftover material from larger projects, available for viewing in our warehouse. These pieces can be used for vanities, as well as smaller projects, such as niches, shower benches, thresholds and more.

Outside

We recommend Natural Stone for outside projects! Natural Stone fares better with harsh weather conditions and intense sunlight. We’ve commonly seen outside kitchens done, but smaller projects such as plant bases, firepits, grill surrounds and much more are also excellent with Natural Stone!
